But it didn't, we can finally be together."
She kissed him then.
They both knew how her family felt about him, and a part of her still wondered if he was real in truth.
A robot who was programmed to be human.
Did he have a soul?
Was his heart, his love real?

She knew he thought similiar things, he once told her how afraid he was that he'd someday find out that he wasn't different from the other robots, that he wasn't real but a computer glitch, a fabrication.
That she wouldn't have real love.
"If your love is artificial..." She had told him, "Then who needs the real thing?"

Immense relief washed over her to hear that she had him back, once and for all.

They had time now for the real questions, like how would they deal with his eternity and her mortality? Or...could a robot marry a human?

But they had their whole lives to find their answers now.
And were more than happy to have that time to spend.

Inheritance, First Entry Title: Marked

From the diary of a genetic mutation.

Sometimes I wish that life came with theme music.
Why, you ask?
Well if it did then I would've been able to tell that things weren't exactly how they seemed from the music playing, the notes caught between danger and normalcy woulda given the whole thing away.
I mean, don't get me wrong, it might not have even mattered if I had known, but in a crazy world such as this you never know. And I'll take all the advantages I can get!

So there I was, sitting there at the library. Completely innocently! Just reading a book to study for my test coming up when this guy sits next to me. And not like a chair away as would've been normal at the six-chaired table in the center of the library, surrounded by shelves of books.
No, not two chairs away, he takes the chair right next to me and scoots really close. Which is the point where I put my book down to give him the "What the fuck?" look.
But he ignores that, and looks at me very seriously.
He doesn't say anything, he just stares at me with this intense blue eyed stare as if I had said something horrible and I was supposed to explain myself.
So now I give him a good look-over. He wasn't old, but he wasn't my age. He looked about my older brother's age, only more...studied. Is that a description? I'm not sure how to put it. He looked as if he knew alot and took everything seriously, which made his random actions seem even more weird to me.
Had I known what he was going to say next I might have known better not to feel weird, but disturbed. Because this guy was really crazy, and what was worse he was dangerous for me and the people I loved.
"You're one of the marked ones."
I feel a jolt but force myself to stare at him like he's an idiot.
"Um...okay?" I frown to show him that I think he might have escaped from some hospital somewhere.
He doesn't take his eyes off me.
"You know what I'm talking about, and I know you're gonna keep pretending that you don't, so you can just listen."
Fat chance. I think glumly.
"We know about you and your family, we're going to be keeping an eye on you. If you even step a toe out of line, or if you reveal your secret to anyone then we're going to have to step in. This is not a threat, this is a fact and a warning."
This raised a number of questions, like...
Number one, how did he know that me and my family were a bunch of freaks?
Number two, was he one of those religious fanatics with a cult following of murderers?
And number three, what did "step in" imply? Would it be like...what "silence them" implies when the villains in the movies say it? Or did he just mean that they would intervene and without violence?
Unfortunately I don't know what to say, so now I'm the idiot because I can do is stare him blankly.
Which is neither an admittance or a denial that I get a single word he's saying.
Not that it mattered, because he took my silence as an answer in and of itself and got up and left.
Leaving me there, dumbstruck with my now seemingly redundant studying.
And what can you do after something like that happens? Leave immediately? Continue on as if nothing happened? Which one of those things was the normal thing to do? Which one could be taken the wrong way by people who might wanna kill you?

Yes, diary, a rather dramatic first entry, and I haven't explained alot.
But I'm tired from that crazy family meeting we had after I went home, and it might take much more pages than this one to explain things properly.
Not to mention I'm not sure I could exactly explain it properly, I don't really trust my brain at the present moment in time..so..I'll see if I can explain tomorrow. Or you know..whenever.

Her last cry

She took it way
From the blood
She made
Never once
was she weak
But her blood
Slowly leaks
On the other side
Where she rest
You all thought
It was a funny test
To mess with her mind
and show her lies
Her last cry
Scream through
The night, as
you held you ears tight
you finally saw
what you had done
Her last cry
made you die
as your ears bleed
as you hear her plead
you finally her
her last cry
of the
Angel who Defied
~Come with me~

Through this portal
we shall go
Looking away
from this hell once known as home

Come with me
To a better place
Where I told you
We would meet again

Time of need
and Times of grief
You know that this place
won't lead you to harm

So come with me
To a new place
We call home
Where noone will
bound you to the ground

So come with me
into a never ending dream
no nightmares
will harm you
as you sleep

Come with me
I'll bring you to a place
where you can laugh
Where you can play
with out anyone
shunning you away

~The other world She never Knew~

I'll tell ye a tale of a broken heart
One as old as true
Yea I'll sing ye a song of a broken angel
who lost her wings

She haunts the nights
With no delight
As she did for so long

Yea I'll tell ye a tale
Of a broken soul
One as old as true
Where noone could save her
and noone would see her

But now that the Epic tale falls about
We shall enter the Realm of
Dream's are about

So To tell ye a Tale
Of the Broken Heart
Or if the one know dead

We still seek a new beginning from one
That was once dead

So please come on through
The realm of the New
And see what has to lie before ye

For in all
The angel no longer bores
Only she sleeps
Never to wake from ending weeps

So I'll tale ye a tale
Of the world she never knew....

Tomorrow

Short by Rache

What if the world ended tomorrow?
People always talk about the world ending at a certain date, but nobody's ever really known.
Would there be anyone left? Though she got along best with Rishaelee, the youngest one at 14. A part of her senses the eldest, the 17 year old daughter, Amanda was interested in her in my ways than one. And the boy, Sid was a goofy child who was too busy following his father's commands, even though he was Shale's age at 15.
Shale sensed something weird about this rather quiet land, something was off. Stale, lurking like a predator for its prey. There was nothing remotely disturbing how the place looked of course.
Just a pleasant small farmhouse, surrounded by fields of crops. Their nearest neighbor half way down the dirt road, rarely at their steel warehouse surrounded by a forest.
Shale was disturbed by how quiet things were. It was a huge difference between the noisy aircraft and the countryside, she knew.

It was more like she senses an underlying story to this place. A story which had reacted adversely to her very prescence.
She decided to ignore this feeling, unless she found reason otherwise.
Or if the feeling became to great not to investigate.

Rishaelee helped Shale settle in the attic -- their only spare room. The girls stayed up all night talking, until suddenly with a shockwave that nearly shook the entire rickety house there came a mighty roar.
It was as if a monster was crying in rage.
The girls were frozen to their seats by the candlelight which was now sputtering out.
Shale stood hesitantly, moving to tiptoe across the attic floor to the window. Hoping to God that the sound didn't come from the house itself.
"No!" Rishaelee grasped Shale's arm. "Don't."
"We need to know what that was, Rishae." Shale whispered, heart sounding within her ribcage. She held the smaller girl protectively as she peeked outside the window pane.
And there, in the field was a rather large truck. Coughing up smoke.
"What is it?" Rishae asked, voice almost too low to be called a whisper.
"Someone parked in your field."
Shale relaxed visibly by a few hairs, realizing how after a whole day of this place any sound could sound monsterous...

"Shale!" Rishaelee cried, burying her face in the other girl's shoulder.
A man had gotten out of the truck, looking rather serious. He was soaking wet, making his hair and clothing appear darker than they probably were.
A chill went down Shale's spine, realzing that the man was looking straight up at their window.
"It's just a man, he probably had to stop for repairs..."
As the man turned and walked toward the forest of their neighbor's land, theyr spotted Sid and Amanda coming from the back door to walk toward the man's care.
"No!"
Rishae broke away from Shale and ran down the stairs.
"Rishae!"
Shale padded after her, nightgown being the worst possible thing she could've worn that night.
The three siblings had gotten a head of her, and how they all ran toward the forest.
Tears began to flow inexplicably as Shale's eyes grew hot, the feeling of danger rising without explanation. In a situation which should've been innocent and stupid, it felt more deadly...

Shale hit the forest, having lost sight of the other children for a good two minutes now. She felt frozen, not only because she was soaked from all the dew-covered crops and trees she'd run through but because she knew this was the hunting ground.
She moved awkwardly, desperate for any trace of any of the others. Worried the most for Rishaelee. Since she was the smallest and most innocent, she was sure to be whatever it was, was after.
"Rishae!" She whispered urgently. She knew without knowing that this thing hated her, Shale, the most. That somehow it knew her. Intimately.
Not in the good way either.
But she couldn't risk leaving the others, especially Rishae. Not with that thing there with them.
Trembling she jutted her chin out defiantly, stepping out from the cover of the trees.
Stand your ground, face it down.
"Rishae! Sid! Amanda!" She called, urgent.
"Shale?" Came a distant, uncertain voice. There was no fear in this one, which baffled the dark haired girl in her drenched nightgown.
"Yes, it's me! Where are you?"
"Just follow my voice!"
"Okay, keep talking, please."
Shale walked as Sid talked about what had happened.
"Amanda said something about us needing to go out there, to get someone. I didn't know what the heck she was talking about, but I followed her out of curiousity. Halfway here Rishaelee came bursting out behind us, yelling at us to stop and turn back."
Shale walked into the glen where Sid sat on a rock.
"Why didn't you?" She asked, still shaking.
"Geez, you okay?" He asked, suddenly concerned. "You cold? Here."
He took off his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders, his bodyheat still present in the piece of clothing.
"I asked Amanda if we should go back, 'cause if Rishaelee's scared it's usually a good reason to turn back. But Amanda refused, she suddenly got some extra speed and got passed me. Rishaelee caught up and begged me to help her fetch back Amanda...but I think we got seperated in here."
"Crap." Shale said, looking around. "We've gotta find them, stick with me Sid. No more splitting up."
Sid nodded and the two of them began scouring the woods, surprised when lights suddenly blinded them.
"What're you kids doing out here?"
"Looking for Amanda and Rishaelee."
"Amanda?" One of the two men asked, lowering his lantern.
"Yes, and Rishaelee." Shale said.
"We've a girl named Amanda who was trying to steal one of our cars."
Sid's eyes widened.
"I don't think she's doing that well, may we fetch her so that she may get the help she needs? Rishaelee was trying to stop her from reaching this far, but she couldn't get ahold of her, she was too fast."
"Well, she musta tired down, 'cause she's not going so fast now." Said the second man with a lantern, he beckoned them to follow and began trudging back to -- assumeably -- his warehouse.
They found Amanda locked inside one of the cars outside the warehouse itself, sitting rather calmly and smiling.
Shale felt a warning sound deep through her bones, but forced a relieved look to fall over her face.
"You're alright." She said.
"Where's Rishaelee?" Sid asked.
"Nearby, I think." The men let Amanda out of the car. "We should get Mother and Father so we can properly search for her. You won't mind, hm, gentlemen?"
"You'll have to stay at home, though, Amanda." Shale said.
"Of course." The paler haired girl nodded.
The guys, perplexed just shrugged and watched them leave.

"That was a mighty strange bunch." Said the first man.
The second agreed.
"Trouble too, I think. Alert the Watchers. I think we've had a breach in this storyline."
The first nodded and rushed off to do so.
"Gods, help us." The man said, reaching into his bag for a rather large futuristic looking gun.

Somewhere down the road toward the small farmhouse, Amanda suddenly stopped.
"It's amazing how gullible this one is, every single time." She said, gesturing toward Sid. "Every single time. How dense could one get?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Sid asked.
"You lot, obviously. Shale knows, of course. Years of training doesn't become nothing, she still remembers. If only dimly."
Shale stood as if fixed to the spot, her eyes telling me that this was true by the expression on Amanda's face. Her ears preoccupied with the sounds that told her how close Rishaelee was.
"Bullshit!" Sid swore, "You're crazy Amanda. Just follow us back to the house and we can work everything out."
"Nothing to work out," She said dismissively. "You're just being dense as always. Lovely Shale, you do remember how this one always falls right?"
Shale was afraid to nod or shake her head, unsure which was the truest reaction, afraid of what either would make this monster do.
"It's not Amanda, Sid. Run and get your parents. Now."
"You do remember. Unfortunately the dense one always follows your orders." Amanda watched Sid run like lightning back to the farmhouse.
"Protect the Princess, keep her safe. No matter the cost, it's your duty as the last of the Protectors." Amanda mocked, eyes suddenly shining yellow. "A million lifetimes I've chased you, I've seen a million different faces on you. But it's always the same. You're awlays protecting the bitch, he's always following your orders, dear Amane is always the senty, the one who remembers immediately and attempts to stop me before I can reach you. So, she's always the first to fall."
"You always fail." Shale said, unamused. "I made sure no matter the outcome, we'd start over again."
"Indeed. Amanda remembered how you did that, this time though. Lee was kind enough to inform her before she...well, enough of that."
"The game."
"Of dreams." The monster agreed.
"We're not real here..."
"Oh, real enough."
Shale suddenly dart to the side, protecting Rishaelee as she ran out from the forest.
"Heh." The monster commented at the scene. "I never gave up on the mission, you know."
"Liar!" Rishaelee cried.
"It's true." It insisted. "The only real way to save you is for you to be obsorbed into my conciousness. They say you're something amazing anyway, there's a chance you could re-write my whole conciousness. If Shale had only let me to begin with, he may not've ever had to take such extreme measures to trick and trap us all. To keep you alive."
"Shale did what he had to!"
"That's why he never tells Amane to not try to prevent me from approaching that shack of a house?"
"You know I can't." Shale said, her voice pained. "I have no control over the turn of each life, I can't leave intructions for them either. I had to. If you somehow got ahold of me in one of these lives, you would've won. I couldn't let that happen."
"But you could leave the lot of us in the hands of Raiders?"
"I grew up with them! As did you Amane, though I'm not sure you'd understand what that means, Cadet."
Amanda's faced scowled and a hiss came from her throat.
"Don't you dare call me that again. I could just as easily snap you in two, now. I'm definitely not your subordinate...Commander."
"You'll always be my little brother." She said, feeling the words echo throughout the virtual lifetimes she'd lived.
"Shut up! Do you have any idea how BORING this is? Every single time is more or less the same, with small vistories between us."
Shale tilted her head, Rishaelee whispering in her head.
"Then let me make it different for you." Shale said, a smile making her face look like a nightmare as her frame seemed to stretch her skin. Becoming taller, sleeker, horrifyingly beautiful in a skeletal way. Enormous black leathery wings shooting from her back.
"There's the Shale I remember. The bitch's pet, ugly aren't you?"
Blue jewel-like eyes shown from her angular face, she beared her sharp teeth.
"Go rover, fetch boy. Ruff, ruff."
Shale tackled Amanda's small body, claws digging into flesh.
"You're a disgrace to our kind, Fingsagashim. A shame only you and I should survive of our species."
Amanda's eyes widened.
"You lie!"
"I do not. Lee informs me that our kind was wiped out two eons ago. Barely a blink in the lives spent here in cryosleep."
"Nooo!!!" Amanda howled, body morphing into something as inhuman as Shale's form. And they wrestled and fought, howling in rage and pain.

Shale lay in bed with Rishaelee next to her. Covered in bandages, but content she smiled.
A kalaidoscope of memories rolling through her brain.
"We'll be able to return to reality, soon." Rishaelee smiled, unearthly emerald eyes entrancing the other girl.
"I'll miss these forms. What were these creatures called?"
"Humans. They're not terribly dissimiliar to us in the way they think."
"No, not at all." Shale agreed, smiling as Rishaelee leaned over to kiss her.

The creatures would soon awaken to a new world than the one they'd previously known. But first they would spend many happy "years" in the virtual reality entertained by their frozen sleep.
For they knew that their lives would be much different than the ones they'd left behind when they awoke.
